Incremental localization scenario for CCMS Desktop

A simple scenario with a map and five topics to illustrate a straightforward incremental localization cycle taking place over four weeks.

Let's use the User Guide map and its five topics Getting Started, Initial Setup, Configuration, Adding Records, and Support as an example.

In Week One, topics Getting Started and Support are at Authoring:done. When you localize the User Guide map to French for the first time, the CCMS creates copies of all six objects in the Localization cycle. Getting Started and Support are created at Localization:tb translated. The other topics and the map are created at Localization:do not translate because they are not ready. You create a localization kit for the map, which moves Getting Started and Support to Localization:in translation. Based on your configuration, the kit contains the map and all five topics to provide full context for the translation. You send the kit to your LSP.

Objects Week 1
User Guide A:work --> L:do not translate
—Getting Started A:done --> L:tb translated --> L:in translation
—Initial Setup A:work --> L:do not translate
—Configuration A:work --> L:do not translate
—Adding Records A:work --> L:do not translate
—Support A:done --> L:tb translated --> L:in translation

In Week Two, you receive the translations of Getting Started and Support from your LSP and you import them, moving those topics to Localization:in review. During the past week, the topics Configuration and Adding Records have reached Authoring:done. You localize the User Guide map to French again, which moves Configuration and Adding Records from Localization:do not translate to Localization:tb translated. You create another localization kit for the map, which moves Configuration and Adding Records to Localization:in translation. You send the kit to your LSP. In the meantime, you perform an in-house review on the translations of Getting Started and Support and move them to Localization:done.

Objects Week 2
User Guide A:work --> L:do not translate
—Getting Started L:in review --> L:done
—Initial Setup A:work --> L:do not translate
—Configuration A:done --> L:tb translated --> L:in translation
—Adding Records A:done --> L:tb translated --> L:in translation
—Support L:in review --> L:done

In Week Three, you receive the translations of Configuration and Adding Records from your LSP and you import them, moving those topics to Localization:in review. During the past week, the topic Initial Setup and the User Guide map itself have reached Authoring:done. You localize the User Guide map to French again, which moves the map and the Initial Setup topic from Localization:do not translate to Localization:tb translated. You create another localization kit for the map, which moves Initial Setup and the User Guide map to Localization:in translation. You send the kit to your LSP. In the meantime, you perform an in-house review on the translations of Configuration and Adding Records and move them to Localization:done.

Objects Week 3

—Getting Started L:in review --> L:done
—Initial Setup A:done --> L:tb translated --> L:in translation
—Configuration L:in review --> L:done
—Adding Records L:in review --> L:done
—Support L:in review --> L:done

In Week Four, you receive the translations of Initial Setup and the User Guide map from your LSP and you import them, moving them to Localization:in review. You perform an in-house review on Initial Setup and the User Guide map and move them to Localization:done.

—Getting Started L:in review --> L:done
—Initial Setup L:in review --> L:done

The localization cycle for the User Guide map is complete.
