Change the status of a Language Manifest

Changing the status of a Language Manifest is the best way to keep track of where it is within your translation workflow, but there are some considerations and restrictions on the change.

About this task

Language Manifests are initially created at Translation:new. From there, you can manually move the manifest to Translation:in progress or Translation: cancelled. After a localization kit has been generated for the Language Manifest, it moves automatically to Translation:in progress. From there, you can manually move the manifest to Translation:done or Translation:cancelled.

Status changes can be from the top down or from the bottom up. From the top down, you change the status of the Language Manifest and it automatically changes the status of the child content objects (if possible). From the bottom up, you change the status of the child content objects and then change the status of the Language Manifest. Both approaches are equally valid; it simply depends on your workflow and preferences.

Within those possible status changes, there are a few things to remember:

  • You can move a Language Manifest from Translation:new to Translation:in progress even if all the manifest's objects are not yet in translation—for example, they are still at to be translated. This might or might not make sense in the context of your workflow, so consider the move carefully.
  • To move a Language Manifest from Translation:in progress to Translation:done, the manifest's content objects must be at least at Translation:in review. This is because, if the content objects are not at least at this status, they do not yet exist within CCMS Web. They are still virtual objects and therefore cannot move to another status along with the Language Manifest.

Procedure

  1. Search for and open the Language Manifest whose status you want to change.
  2. In the Language Manifest banner, click Move.
  3. In the Move dialog, select a status from the drop-down list.
    One of three things happens:
    • The move simply happens. This is the case when none of the content objects in the Language Manifest are at a status that conflicts with the status you are moving to. There is nothing more to do.
    • If you move the Language Manifest to Translation:done, but there are still content objects within it that are at a status other than Translation:in review, Translation:done, or Do not translate, CCMS Web presents a list of those objects and blocks the move. You must advance these objects through the translation workflow before you can move the Localization Manifest.
    • If you move the Language Manifest to Translation:done, but there are still content objects within it that are at Translation:in review, CCMS Web presents a list of those objects and allows you to continue.
  4. In the case of the third option, review the list.
  5. If all the objects are ready to be moved to Translation:doneclick Continue.

If any objects are not ready, or you are not sure, click Cancel and review the objects individually before attempting the move again. (You can also open the objects directly from the list.)
