Import translated content

After the translation agency completes its work on the submission, and returns the translated content, you need to import the translations into CCMS Web.

About this task

You can find more details about importing translated content in Understanding the translation import process.

Procedure

  1. From the in the Navigation bar, or from the My Kits/Imports page, select Import localized content.

Notice this option does not apply to any specific Translation Manifest or Localization Manifest. You simply import a group of translated maps, topics, or images, and CCMS Web puts them where they need to go.

  2. In the Open dialog, from your local computer's file explorer, go to where you stored the zip file from the LSP and select Open.

You cannot import individual files. You must import a zip file but you do not have to reorganize the zip file you receive from the LSP. CCMS Web does not require any particular structure for a successful import.

    The import begins automatically.
  3. After the import completes successfully, click MadCap Software logo and then click My Kits/Imports.

Results

After a successful import, indicates the import process completed properly. An import does not cause any changes to associated Translation Manifests but it does trigger some changes to associated Language Manifests:

  • Imported objects that previously had a Translation:in translation status now have a status of Translation:in review and are no longer dimmed, meaning they are now actual objects.
Note: If your company does not perform in-country or in-house reviews, your configuration might skip the Translation:in review status and import directly to Translation:done.
  • Objects that were not yet imported remain dimmed and at a status of Translation:in translation.
  • The Title column now displays the translated title.
  • The Filepath column changes from /content/authoring to /content/translation

What to do next

After the import has completed successfully, review the translated content to ensure it is correct, using your established internal review process. For more information, see Reviewing and correcting translated content. If the content is correct, move those objects to Translation:done.

CAUTION: Be sure not to move objects before you have verified them! It is difficult to undo a move to Translation:done.

You can either move objects individually or in bulk. If you choose the latter, you must open the map to do so.
