Change the status of a Translation Manifest

Changing the status of a Translation Manifest is the best way to keep track of where it is within your translation workflow, but there are some considerations and restrictions on the change

About this task

Translation Manifests are initially created at Translation:new. From there, all status changes are manual.

Status changes can be from the top down or from the bottom up. From the top down, you change the status of the Translation Manifest and it automatically changes the status of the Language Manifests and child content objects (if possible). From the bottom up, you change the status of the child content objects and then change the status of the Language Manifest and finally the status of the Translation Manifest. Both approaches are equally valid; it simply depends on your workflow and preferences.

Within possible status changes, there are a few things to remember:

  • To move a Translation Manifest to Translation:done, all child content objects in all associated Language Manifests must be at least at Translation:in review. This is because, if the content objects are not at least at this status, they do not yet exist within CCMS Web.
  • To move a Translation Manifest to Translation:cancelled, all child Language Manifests must have a status other than Translation:done.

Procedure

  1. Search for the Translation Manifest whose status you want to change.
  2. Click Move icon.

    The Move dialog appears.

  3. From the Status drop-down list, select the next status you want.
  4. In the Comment field, add a comment.
This comment is added to the Revision History of the object.
  5. Click Move.
    One of three things happens:
    • The move simply happens. This is the case when none of the Language Manifests or their content objects are at a status that conflicts with the status you are moving to. There is nothing more to do.
    • If you move the Translation Manifest to Translation:done, but there are still content objects within it that are at a status other than Translation:in review, Translation:done, or Do not translate, CCMS Web presents a list of those objects and blocks the move. You must advance these objects through the translation workflow before you can move the Translation Manifest.
    • If you move the Translation Manifest to Translation:done, but there are still content objects within it that are at Translation:in review, CCMS Web presents a list of those objects and allows you to continue.
  6. In the case of the third option, review the list.
  7. If all the objects are ready to be moved to Translation:doneclick Continue.

If any objects are not ready, or you are not sure, click Cancel and review the objects individually before attempting the move again. (You can also open the objects directly from the list.)
