Generate output for translated content

Localization varies slightly for output generation, since it requires you to use the related language manifest when you generate an output for each target language, rather than using the source map.

About this task

You cannot generate output from a Translation Manifest. A Translation Manifest might include multiple languages and would create a very long, complex output job that is difficult to manage.

You can generate output from a Language Manifest. In fact, you must generate output from the Language Manifest rather than from the translated map.

You can generate individual outputs for a Language Manifest or you can select a Build Manifest and generate multiple outputs at once.

In the unlikely event you have a map that combines content in Authoring and Translation, you cannot generate output for this map.

To search for the map, see Search for translated content. If you have an issue with output, the Output Analyzer provides you with a log file that identifies the fault.

Important: You cannot generate output for objects in maps that have a status mix of Authoring and Translation.

Procedure

  1. Search for the Language Manifest for which you want to generate output.

    You can also

    • Search for the Translation Manifest and open the appropriate Language Manifest from there.
    • Search for the translated map and view its Dependencies to identify an appropriate Language Manifest to use as context.
  2. From the Language Manifest banner, click More Options icon.
  3. Select Generate Output.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select the individual output type from the drop-down list.
    • Select the appropriate Build Manifest from the drop-down list.
  5. Optional: Select a ditaval to filter the output.
  6. Click Generate.
