Edit an existing role using Role Manager

You can easily edit an existing role's document types and time lines, but this can affect existing assignments.

Procedure

  1. Open the Role Manager window.
  2. Click the lock manager icon Lock button.
  3. In the Roles list, select the role to configure.
The object types and time line for the selected role appear.
  4. If necessary, change the name of the role.
    CAUTION:

Be very careful when making this change! If you change a role's name here, you must also change it throughout the configuration. A failure to do so prevents the CCMS from starting correctly.

Ensure no users are assigned to objects in the role whose name you are changing. Use the Search functionality to identify any such objects and remove the assignment. A failure to remove the assignments before changing the name can result in users no longer being able to lock, edit, release, change status, or perform other actions on the object.

  5. Select an existing document type, add a new one, or delete an existing one.

If you delete an existing document type, all associated settings are deleted as well.

Important: Editing a role's associated document types and time lines can affect existing assignments and what users in that role see on their My Assignments pages.
  6. For a newly-added or existing document type, add a new time line, edit an existing one, or delete an existing one.

If you delete an existing time line, all associated settings are deleted as well.

  7. For a newly-added or existing time line, select or deselect the applicable statuses.
  8. Click check in manager icon Check In Document to commit your changes.
  9. Inform users of the changes and ask them to close and reopen their CCMS Desktop to apply the changes. Additionally, have an administrator refresh IXIA CCMS Web so that users see the change reflected there.
