Configure access rights using Access Manager

You can configure IXIA CCMS functions to make them available to users associated with specific roles or groups. For example, the Assign to access right can be configured so that it's available to Author, Graphic Artist, and Information Architects to enable them to assign objects in Authoring to other users.

About this task

Important: Make configuration changes in a test environment and confirm they work before copying them to a production environment.

Procedure

  1. Open the User Manager window.
  2. Click the lock manager icon Lock button.
  3. In the Actions list, select an action to configure.
  4. Under Conditions, choose one of the following actions:
    • To modify an existing condition, select the condition.
    • To create a new condition, right-click and select New Condition.
    • To delete an existing condition, right-click and select Delete Condition.
Tip: Keep the number of conditions for any given action to a minimum, and make them as broad-based as possible. The more conditions you configure, the longer the configuration will take and the more adjustments you may have to make to your configuration in future.
  5. In the Status/Type list, select or deselect the cycles and states that apply for each document type within the condition.

To add a document type to a condition, right-click and select New Type on > doctype. To configure an action for all document types, select the asterisk (*).

To delete a document type from a condition, right-click it and select Delete Type.
  6. In the Roles and/or Groups lists, or deselect select the roles and groups who should be able to perform the action for the selected condition.
For example, the sample Assign to action applies for all document objects in the Authoring cycle, and is accessible to users with Author, Graphic Artist, and Information Architect roles.

Note: The default Users list is for MadCap Software testing purposes only. Do not add individual users to a condition.
  7. Click check in manager icon Check In Document to commit your changes.
  8. Inform users of the changes and ask them to close and reopen their CCMS Desktop to apply the changes. Additionally, have an administrator refresh IXIA CCMS Web so that users see the change reflected there.
