Create and add a new topic

In Map Editor, you can create a new topic and add a topicref to it in the map you have open.

To create a new topic and add it as a topicref:

1. Find the location where you want to add the new topic.
2. Add the new topic by doing one of the following:

   Method	Steps
   Mini toolbar	Hover over the title of an existing topic. The mini toolbar appears. Click .
   Right-click	Select the location in the map where you want to add the new topic. Right-click and select Insert > Insert New Topic.
   Toolbar	Select the location in the map where you want to add the new topic. On the toolbar, click .

3. Enter a title for your topic.
4. Click Next.
5. Choose a template from the following:

   Table 1. Template types

   Template	Usage
   Concept	Use this when explaining core ideas and conceptual information
   Reference	Use this to provide related information to quickly look up
   Task	Use this for procedures that requires step-by-step instructions
   Troubleshooting	Use this to provide step-by-step instructions for solutions to common problems

6. Click Create.

A new topicref is added to Map Editor for the new topic.

If you want to edit the new topic, click to open it and click Edit.
