Snapshots
A snapshot records all the important data about a map and the objects in it at the moment the snapshot is created. It is a complete picture of the map and its content at that point in time.
You can create a snapshot of your map at important milestones so that you can see the content from this time at any point in the future.
Information recorded
A snapshot records information for every object in the map, including submaps and the objects in submaps. The following information is recorded for each object:
- Status
- File path for the object in IXIA CCMS
- ID
- Title
- Revision number
- Object type
Generate the output of a snapshot
You can generate an output from a snapshot to see its content. When you generate the output, IXIA CCMS Web uses the revisions listed in the snapshot for each object. New files are not created.
The information in the snapshot allows CCMS Web to recreate the map and its contents exactly as they were when the snapshot was created.
Snapshot objects in CCMS Web
A snapshot is not a copy of the map and its objects. It is an XML file that lists the map's contents at a specific point in time. Since a snapshot is only one object, it has virtually no impact on the number of objects in the Content Store.
