In Map Editor, you can search for and add exiting topics to the map you are editing. You can also add existing maps as submaps.
The map must be checked out and open in Content view.
Topics are added as a topicref, and submaps are added as a mapref.
To add a topicref or mapref:
- Find the location where you want to add the new object.
- Add the new object by doing one of the following:

- In the Insert Objects dialog, search for the topic or map that you want.
You can click on the titles to see a
preview of them.
You can only add objects that are in the same Branch as the map you are editing. This includes library Branches linked to this Branch.
- Click the checkboxes for the objects that you want to insert.
You can select as many objects as you want. A counter beside Insert tracks the number of objects selected.
- Click Insert.
Tip: You can also click Insert while previewing an object. This inserts the object you are previewing and any others you selected in the Insert Objects dialog.
A new topicref or mapref is added in the target location for each object selected.
