Generating backups

Generating and managing backups of your data is a fundamental task for those responsible for maintaining servers and component content management systems.

Backups make a copy of your data and store it in a safe place. When you perform a backup, you can recover more rapidly if something occurs such as a hardware failure, power surge, or any number of situations which may render your data unusable.

There are several methods available to you for producing backups, some with recommended practices particularly for IXIA TEXTML Server and IXIA CCMS. The methods do not describe how to manage archiving, retention, rotation, and off-site storage for backup files. For a complete backup solution, use third-party backup software to manage such tasks.
