Generating backups

Generating and managing backups of your data is a fundamental task for those responsible for maintaining servers and component content management systems.

When you perform a backup, you are essentially making a copy of your data and storing it in a safe place. This ensures that if something occurs such as a hardware failure, power surge, or any number of situations which may render your data unusable, you can recover from the loss more rapidly.

This section describes the methods available for producing the backups and suggests recommended practices that should be followed for IXIASOFT TEXTML Server and IXIASOFT CCMS. It does not describe how to manage the archiving, retention, rotation, and off-site storage for the backup files. For a complete backup solution, a third-party backup software is required to manage those tasks.
