Statuses for the Translation cycle

Each object within the Translation cycle moves along a workflow, marked by a change in status. Some status changes are automatic and others are manual, performed when you determine it's appropriate.

Translation Manifests and Language Manifests follow one sequence of statuses and individual content objects in translation follow another. These statuses interact to provide you with a complete picture of your project's progress.

For content objects, some statuses are real and others are virtual. Real statuses are listed in the system configuration and can be renamed—although this should be done with great caution. Virtual statuses are not listed in the system configuration. They are managed within the CCMS Webcode. Multiple internal operations rely on these status names and they cannot be renamed or reconfigured.

You can manually move objects between real statuses but you cannot manually move them to a virtual status or between virtual statuses.

Note: Your status names may vary, since your system administrator can change the name of each real or virtual status or add another status that aligns with your corporate requirements.

Status name	Description
Translation:new	Indicates the manifest is newly created in the Translation cycle and no localization kits have been generated.
Translation:in progress	For a Language Manifest, indicates that a localization kit has been generated. This move is automatic. For a Translation Manifest, generally indicates that localization kits have been generated for some or all languages. This move is manual.
Translation:done	Indicates all translation work is complete. This move is manual.
Translation:cancelled	Indicates you opted not to continue or complete the localization process. This move is manual.

Status name	Description
Not ready	Virtual status. Indicates the object is not at its final status and is therefore not ready to be translated yet. Objects at this status will be picked up by future Translation Manifests after they reach their final status. This status applies only when using incremental localization.
To be translated	Virtual status. Indicates the object is ready to be translated. It will be included in a localization kit.
Already managed	Virtual status. Indicates the translation agency already has the object, which was included in a prior translation kit, so is redundant. Note: Typical reasons for including already managed content in the current translation kit, by using the Include already managed objects checkbox, would be to obtain a full cost estimate or to shift a later project submission ahead of one already sent for translation. The ownership for the already managed object is listed under the Managed By column next to this status.
Do not translate	Virtual status. Indicates the translation agency should not translate the object. Note: Typical candidates for this status include branding, universally acknowledged technical terms, or images that do not require any translation.
In translation	Virtual status. Indicates the object is included in the localization kit created from this Language Manifest. It does not necessarily indicate the agency has the content, as the system cannot know that.
Translation: in review	Real status. Indicates the object is back from the translation agency and imported into CCMS Web.
Translation:done	Real status. Indicates all reviews for the object are complete and the translation is finalized.

Sequence of statuses for Translation and Language Manifests

Translation Manifests and Language Manifests are initially created at Translation:new. If you want to cancel the project at this point, you can move the manifests to Translation:cancelled. Otherwise, they remain at this status until you generate a localization kit.

At that point, the Language Manifests for the languages for which you generated kits move to status Translation:in progress. Language Manifests for languages for which you have not generated a kit remain at Translation:new. The Translation Manifest moves to Translation:in progress. Again, if you want to cancel the project at this point, you can move the manifests to Translation:cancelled.

Translation Manifests and Language Manifests remain at Translation:in progress until you move them either to Translation:done or Translation:cancelled. They do not move automatically to these statuses.

Once a manifest is at Translation:done, you cannot move it to Translation:cancelled, but you can move it to Translation:in progress.

Sequence of statuses for objects in translation

When you initially create a Language Manifest, most of its objects are likely at To be translated. Some might be at other statuses such as Already managed or Do not translate, as described above.

Objects which were previously translated to this language and have not been edited since then (i.e., they are still at the same Authoring revision) are at Translation:done.

When you generate the localization kit, objects at To be translated move automatically to In translation.

When a translated object is imported, it moves automatically to Translation:in review. At this point, the object actually exists in CCMS Web and you can edit it or generate output from it as you would any other object.

Finally, when the object has been reviewed and corrected if necessary, and you are satisfied that it is complete, you can move it to Translation:done. If you discover after moving the object that it requires more work, you can move it back to Translation:in review.
