Generate a localization kit standalone

You can generate a localization kit at any time after you create a Translation Manifest.

About this task

Note: You can generate a single kit for all languages or you can generate separate kits for different combinations of languages if you have multiple LSPs or some other reason for breaking it down into smaller kits.

These steps assume you have already created the Translation Manifest and now need to generate the localization kit. The process of generating a localization kit while creating the Translation Manifest is explained in Localize a map in CCMS Web.

Sometimes you might need to re-generate a localization kit. For example, a colleague might have generated the kit for a Translation Manifest and then unexpectedly become unavailable before sending it to the LSP. Because the kit is not a content object, but more like an output, you cannot search for the kit in CCMS Web. Instead, you can simply re-create it.

You can find more information about localization kits and their contents in Working with localization kits.

Procedure

  1. Search for the Translation Manifest for which you want to create the kit.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select Generate kit menu in the Actions column .
    • Open the Translation Manifest and select Generate kit from the menu.
    • Open the appropriate Language Manifest and select Generate kit from the menu.
    The Generate kit dialog opens.
  3. Select the language(s) you want to localize to.

The list of available languages depend on your configuration. You can generate a single kit with all languages or you can generate multiple kits with different combinations of languages, depending on your needs.

If you are generating the kit from a Language Manifest, only that language is available to select.

  4. Select the Include images as context check box if you want to include images that do not require translation in the localization kit.

If you only want to include images that require translation in the kit, do not select this check box.

  5. Select the Include 'Already Managed' objects in the kit check box if you want to include objects that are part of other Translation Manifests in the localization kit.

The map you are localizing might share objects with other maps. Those maps might have already been localized and therefore those objects are part of the Translation Manifests for those maps. Normally, objects that are part of other Translation Manifests are not sent again but if you want to include all the map's dependencies in the current kit, select this check box.

Note: The first Translation Manifest you create for a map is the one that manages all the objects shared by other maps for which you create Translation Manifests later. In any later Translation Manifests that share the objects, they are noted as being managed by the first Translation Manifest. In the later Translation Manifests, these objects exist only as read-only virtual placeholders and are marked with a Do not translate status.
  6. Click Generate.
The localization kit is created for all the languages you selected.
  7. Go to My Kits/Imports and click to download the kit.
The localization kit is downloaded to your Downloads folder on your local computer as a zip file that contains a folder for each selected language.
  8. Send the localization kit as a zip file to your LSP.
