You can remove a role, along with its associated document types and
respective time lines.
Ensure the role is not referenced by any of the system configuration
files such as users.xml, accessrights.xml, projectconf.xml, and index definitions. Deleting a role that is
referenced by other files will corrupt the system configuration and prevent the CCMS from working.
Also ensure no users are assigned to objects in the role you are deleting. Use the
Search functionality to identify any such objects and remove the assignment. A
failure to remove the assignments before deleting the role can result in you no
longer being able to lock, edit, release, change status, or perform other actions on
the object.
To delete a role:

In TEXTML Administration
perspective, right-click the Content Store node and select
.
The
Role Manager window
opens.
Note: MadCap Software
recommends that you avoid directly editing the roles.xml file. The
Role Manager window has built-in
validation mechanisms to reduce errors.

Click the
Lock button.

In the Roles list,
right-click the role to delete, and then select Delete Role.
The role and its associated time lines are
deleted.

Click
Check In Document.
Your changes to roles.xml are updated in the repository.

Inform users of the changes.
The changes will be applied automatically once users close and then reopen their CCMS Desktop. Users can also apply the changes without restarting their CCMS Desktop by clicking . Additionally, refresh IXIA CCMS Web so that users will see the change reflected there.
