(Windows) Start the IXIA TEXTML Server service

After you complete all prior activities in this section, the final task when you update a build is to start the IXIA TEXTML Server service in Windows.

Note: This procedure applies only in on-premise deployments.

To start the IXIA TEXTML Server service:

  1. Open the Services window.
  2. Right-click the IXIA TEXTML Server service in the list and select Properties.
    Version name Windows service name
For TEXTML Server 4.4.1.5167 and later versions --
Any version prior to TEXTML Server 4.4.1.5167 TEXTML Server version x.x, where x.x is the installed version
  3. In the General tab, beside Startup type, choose one of the following actions, and then click OK.
    • If this will be the only instance of TEXTML Server on the server, leave the default option, Automatic.
    • If more than one instance of TEXTML Server is installed on a server, such as a cluster setup, click Manual and click OK to verify that the user controls which server instances are active.
  4. If required, run the service as another user than the default.
Note: By default, the TEXTML Server service is running as the Local Service user.
You must run the service as another user in any of the following scenarios:
    • You installed TEXTML Server in a Windows cluster.
    • Your target directory for the backup uses a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path, such as \\server_name\share_name.
    • You employ Kerberos authentication, and one of the following is true for your deployment:
      • You have multiple Active Directory Forests in the network
      • An Active Directory Forest includes many domains
    • A different user previously updated TEXTML Server.
If one of these conditions applies to your deployment, take the following actions:
    1. Right-click the Ixiasoft Textml Server service in the list and select Properties.

The service name is Ixiasoft Textml Server version x.x

      Where:

      x.x is the installed version.

    2. In the Log On tab, select This account and click Browse.
    3. In the Select User dialog, enter the username in the Enter the object names to select box and click Check Names.
      Note: The username is underlined.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Enter the password for this user in the Password and Confirm password fields.
    6. Click OK.
      If the following message displays:
The account <account_name> has been granted the Log On As A Service right.
Click OK. The following message may display:
The new logon name will not take effect until you stop and restart the service.
    7. Click OK.
  5. Click Start the service.
  6. If you get a Windows could not start the Textml Server version on Local computer error message, resolve the licensing issue by taking one of the following actions:
    • If you did not obtain and activate your license, obtain it and try again.
    • If you obtained and activated your license, make sure that the file is saved in the correct directory, %ProgramData%/IxiaSoft/Licenses, under the correct name, IxiaLicense.ilf.
Note: Some email programs add the .txt extension at the end of the file, which prevents TEXTML Server from starting.
The update of TEXTML Server is complete.
