Dissociate a document type from a role

As your work process matures, you may need to dissociate a document type from a role.

For example, a new graphic artist joined your team, so you need to dissociate image document types from the Author role and later associate them with a newly-created Graphic Artist role.

Note: MadCap Software recommends that you avoid directly editing the roles.xml file. The Role Manager window has built-in validation mechanisms to reduce errors.

To dissociate a document type from a role:

  1. In TEXTML Administration perspective, right-click the Content Store node and select CCMS Admin > Manage Roles.
    The Role Manager window opens.
  2. Click the lock manager icon Lock button.
  3. In the Roles list, select the role to configure.
The documents for which this role is responsible appear in the Document Types list.
  4. Right-click the document type to dissociate and select Delete Type.
The document type, along with each related time line and status, are removed for the selected role.
  5. Click check in manager icon Check In Document.
Your changes to roles.xml are updated in the Repository.
  6. Inform users of the changes.
The changes are automatically applied once users close and then reopen their CCMS Desktop. Users can also apply the changes without restarting their CCMS Desktop by clicking IXIA CCMS > Synchronize Configuration. Additionally, refresh IXIA CCMS Web so that users see the change reflected there.
