Add a new time line to a document type

You can assign a new time line to a document type.

Note: MadCap Software recommends that you avoid directly editing the roles.xml file. The Role Manager window has built-in validation mechanisms to reduce errors.

To add a new time line to a document type:

  1. In TEXTML Administration perspective, right-click the Content Store node and select CCMS Admin > Manage Roles.
    The Role Manager window opens.
  2. Click the lock manager icon Lock button.
  3. In the Roles list, select a role whose time line you want to configure.
    The documents associated with this role appear in the Document Types list.
  4. In the Document Type list, select a document whose time line you want to configure.
    The time lines configured for that document appear in the Time Lines list.
  5. Right-click in the Time Lines list and select New Time Line > state.
    Where state indicates the document state time line you want to configure for this role, such as Active.
  6. In the Time Lines list, select the state you just added.
    The cycles defined in your configuration will appear in the Status list:

  7. Expand the Status nodes to see the related states.
    Together, cycle and state define the status, such as Authoring:draft.
  8. Select a status for the role, document type, and time line configuration you just defined.
  9. Click check in manager icon Check In Document.
    Your changes are updated in the Repository.
  10. Inform users of the changes.
    The changes are automatically applied once users close and then reopen their CCMS Desktop. Users can also apply the changes without restarting their CCMS Desktop by clicking IXIA CCMS > Synchronize Configuration. Additionally, refresh IXIA CCMS Web so that users see the change reflected there.
