The user guide for writers using IXIA CCMS Web 7.0. It contains information to help users with authoring, managing, and reviewing content in CCMS Web.

IXIA CCMS Web manages content as a variety of objects according to its specified workflow.
Content organization using objects
Content is comprised of one of four possible different object types.
The Breadcrumb path
When you open a topic, you will see a Breadcrumb path indicating the Context Map associated to the object and the object's title.

- Content management with IXIA CCMS Web
  IXIA CCMS Web manages content as a variety of objects according to its specified workflow.
  - Content organization using objects
    Content is comprised of one of four possible different object types.
    - Object icons
      There are different icons for each object type to visually signal its type and workflow state.
    - Object management: Standard or IXIA Dynamic Release Management (DRM)
      The related repository for a standard deployment, as compared to a DRM deployment, handles objects differently.
    - Branch status and branch type
      A branch has a given status, depending on its place in the product development cycle. The status of a branch determines what type of branch it is.
    - The Breadcrumb path
      When you open a topic, you will see a Breadcrumb path indicating the Context Map associated to the object and the object's title.
    - Content reuse using objects
      Multiple maps can point to the same object so that any edits to that object are reflected in every parent map.
    - Content workflows
      During the process of creating, editing, reviewing, and approving a document, the content moves through a designated workflow and its related status, such as Authoring:work. Each status requires input from users with different roles.
    - Initial status of objects in CCMS Web
      In IXIA CCMS Web, the initial status for a new object depends on the role of the user who creates the object. For example, if a Writer and a Contributor both create the same type of object, each new object is created with a different status appropriate for the role.
    - Branched content in CCMS Web
      In IXIA CCMS Web, you can edit objects that have been branched in IXIA CCMS Desktop.
  - Action icons and buttons for objects
    Each type of object (such as a map, topic, or Collaborative Review) has different actions allowed for it.
  - Search for an object
    You can use the Search in the Navigation bar to quickly find IXIA CCMS Web objects.
  - Dependencies view
    Any kind of relationship one object has to another object is called a dependency: all dependencies are reciprocal relationships. You can open the Dependencies view () to examine all the relationships between the object you selected and all other related objects.
  - Favorites
    You can mark an object as a personal favorite, which adds it to your Favorites side panel so you can quickly find it and work with it.
  - Cloning objects
    Cloning an object creates an identical copy of the same object.
  - Revision history
    Whenever an important change happens to an object, IXIA CCMS Web creates a new revision. CCMS Web tracks all the changes to an object with each revision and stores the information in the revision history.
  - Push object content among branches
    You can push content from an object in a source branch to other target branches.
  - Push content to target branches
    You can push objects, such as a topic and its content, to other target branches.
  - Taxonomies
    A taxonomy is a hierarchical classification system that organizes taxonomy terms. Taxonomy terms are a type of metadata, which you can use to classify objects.
  - Content Level Security
    Content Level Security (CLS) is a feature that controls who has access to edit or read content.
  - Integration with IXIASOFT CCMS Desktop
    IXIA CCMS Web has a streamlined interface that gives writers all the tools they need to start writing. Writers can use IXIA CCMS Desktop to manage reviews and their work.

  Maps provide a structured hierarchy to objects and content within it.
- Topics
  Topics are the basic containers for all content in IXIA CCMS Web.
- Images
  Upload images that you want to use to IXIA CCMS Web.
- Resources
  Resources are non-DITA files (such as PDF files and Word files) that support documentation. You can use resources to upload and store these files in IXIA CCMS. For a definition of what constitutes a resource, see https://www.oxygenxml.com/dita/1.3/specs/archSpec/base/dita-terminology.html.
- Assignments
  You use the My Assignments page to keep track of all the work you need to do in IXIA CCMS Web. The work is tracked as a series of assignments on a users' My Assignments page.
- Collaborative Review feature
  Reviewers can use the Collaborative Review (CR) feature on the content assigned to them as a means to both provide feedback to writers and view any annotations added by other assigned reviewers.
- Approvals
  Use the Approval feature to get a final sign off on content after completion of all reviews.
- Unified localization
  The latest approach in IXIA CCMS Web 7.0, known as unified localization, significantly departs from the approach to localization in previous releases of CCMS Desktop.
- Content localization
  You can localize any CCMS Web map.
- Management of objects submitted for localization
  Your choices dictate the frequency of and complexity of your localization strategy and method. In addition, the relationship between various objects within the Translation cycle deeply impacts how those objects behave in certain portions of the localization process, which, in turn, impacts the final product.
- CCMS Web localization administrative tasks
  There are several items that require attention from a system administration perspective before you begin your localization tasks.
- Output generation and publication
  All of the content that you create can be exported from IXIA CCMS Web to the target document deliverables using the IXIA CCMS Output Generator. The CCMS Output Generator is the component that executes the transformation processes from DITA files to a specified output type, such as PDF, HTML, and XML.
