Find text or XML elements and entities

Use this procedure to find and replace text, as well as tags and XML entities.

You can search for text, or any of the XML entities that have been defined on your system, or you can search for specific elements and replace their tags with others. You can search within a specific element, and use any of the XMetaL pattern matching functionality.

  1. Open your topic in the XMetaL editor.
  2. Press CTRL+F.
    Tip: If you've just performed a search, you don't need to open the Find and replace dialog to repeat the search. Simply press F3.

  3. Select the tab that contains what you want to work with:
    • Text
    • Element
    • Entity
  4. Click Close when you're finished.
