Insert entities

Use this procedure to insert XML entities into your text.

The Special Inserts view lets you insert XML entities directly into the XML document, without having to type in escape characters or look up hexadecimal codes.
  1. Open the topic in your XMetaL editor.
  2. Place the cursor where you want to insert an entity.
  3. Open the Special Inserts view. You can either:
    • Press CTRL+ALT+Y.
    • On the View toolbar, click the Entity button (insert entity icon).
    • From the menu bar, select XML Document > Insert > Entity...
    The Special Inserts view opens, with the selected option enabled.
  4. Double-click the required entity.
The entity is inserted into the editor at the cursor's location.
