Add topic and map templates to CCMS Web

When creating maps and topics in CCMS Web, users must select an existing template. These templates are created in CCMS Desktop but can be added to CCMS Web for use.

About this task

This task is typically performed by a CCMS Admin. These steps assume the templates are already present in TEXTML Administration. For instructions on adding them there, see Import a topic or map template into IXIA CCMS.

Note: When you add templates using these steps, you are updating the system/webplatform/configuration/webTemplates.xml file in the background. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit that file directly.

Procedure

  1. Log in to CCMS Web as a user with Administrator permissions.
  2. Click Hamburger icon > Administration > Configuration.
  3. Click Map Templates or Topic Templates.
  4. Click Add
  5. Follow the prompts to the first map or topic template that you need in CCMS Web.
    Each template in CCMS Web has the following settings:
    • Name: the name under which the template appears in CCMS Web
    • Description: helps users distinguish between similar templates
    • Source file: an existing template file in CCMS Desktop
    • Role: such as SME or Writer. The template is only visible to users with the selected roles.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Repeat from step 5 to add more map or topic templates.
  8. When done, refresh the Web Server.
