In Map Editor, you can search for and add exiting topics to the map you are editing. You can also add existing maps as submaps.
Before you begin
The map must be checked out and open in Content view.
About this task
Topics are added as a topicref, and submaps are added as a mapref.
To add a topicref or mapref:
Procedure
- Find the location where you want to add the new object.
- Add the new object by doing one of the following:

- Hover over the title of an existing topic.
The mini toolbar appears.

- Select the location in the map where you want to add the new topic.
- Right-click and select .

- Select the location in the map where you want to add the new topic.
- On the toolbar, click .

- In the Insert Object dialog, search for the topic or map that you want.
Note: You can click
to
launch a new tab and preview the object.
Tip: You can only add objects that are in
the same branch as the map you are editing. This includes library
branches linked to this branch.
- Click the checkboxes for the objects that you want to insert.
Note: You can select multiple objects. A counter in
parens beside Insert tracks the number of
objects you select.
- Click Insert.
Tip: You can also click Insert while previewing an object. This inserts the object you are previewing and any others you selected in the Insert Object dialog.
Results
A new topicref or mapref is added in the target location for each object selected.
