Why does a .metadata error appear when trying to launch the IXIA CCMS Desktop?

This can be resolved by removing some corrupted files.

Description

When starting IXIA CCMS, a dialog box appears saying An error has occurred. See the <workspace>/.metadata/.log file. This indicates that your workspace has been corrupted.

Solution

  1. Close IXIA CCMS.
  2. Delete the .metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.e4.workbench\workbench.xmi file from the workspace.
  3. Start IXIA CCMS.

To prevent this issue, MadCap Software recommends closing all open topics before exiting.
