Revert to a specific revision

You can use the Revision History page to revert a map or topic to any of its past revisions. Reverting an object creates a new revision that is a copy of that past revision.

Before you begin

To successfully revert the object back to a former revision, the object must be checked in and at its initial status, such as Work.

About this task

Use the Revision History page to roll back changes made to the object, and restore it to any previous revision of a checked in object. The revert action discards all your changes since checking out that object.

On other pages, you can only revert checked out objects to the last checked in revision.

Note: When reverting to a previous revision, the current revision is never overwritten. The software creates a new revision that is identical to the old revision you selected. This restores the old content while preserving the content in all revisions.

To revert to a specific revision:

Procedure

  1. On the Revision History page, find the revision that you want.
Tip: You can compare revisions to see what each revision contains before reverting.
  2. For the revision, click Revert To icon.
  3. Optional: Add a comment about why you are reverting the object.
  4. Click Revert To.

Results

A new revision is created in the Revision History page so that the content is identical to the specified revision.
