Secure communications with SSL

You can use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to provide secure communications between the IXIA TEXTML Server and the IXIA CCMS components.

You must follow the identified sequence to secure SSL communications.

Note: If you are using SSL security, you do not need to configure Kerberos authentication.

Before you get started, set up OpenSSL. See Prerequisite: Set up OpenSSL.

  1. Obtain a signed certificate. Two options are available for obtaining a signed certificate: Using a commercial root certificate authority (CA) such as Comodo, DigiCert, etc., or being your own CA. See Step 1: Obtain a signed certificate.
  2. Configure the TEXTML Server to use the certificate. See Step 2: Install a signed CA on IXIA TEXTML Server.
  3. Configure the components to use SSL. See Step 3: Configure CCMS components to use SSL.

Multiple methods are available to secure communications using SSL. The procedures in this section use OpenSSL to illustrate this process, but you can use any other SSL toolkit.
