An output is the target document deliverable for your content. You can generate an output from objects such as a maps, topics, and Collaborative Reviews.
To generate an output:
Click next to an object.
Important: Individual topics do not have context
maps for resolving references, such as keyrefs. If you
generate content from a topic, references and referenced content will not
generate properly.
Select Generate Output.
In the Generate Output dialog, select the type of output to create.
Outputs are classified into two types: Build Manifests and all other Output Types.
Note: The list of available output types
depends on your access rights. Administrators can configure the available
output types available to a specific user type.
Important: As of CCMS Web 7.1, you
can generate HTML output for a map and automatically send it to an existing
project in MadCap Central by using the Central - Publish to Project
output type, assuming the following things are already in place:
You have a Central license and a Central author seat at the time
you generate the output.
Your system administrator has properly configured the
central.properties file, including the
location and URL of the Central repository, the username,
password, and client ID.
The proper target you obtain from Central. It should have an
.fltar extension, such as HTML5.fltar.
Figure: Generate Output dialog, sample publish to CentralIf the output is successful, the CCMS Output Generator sends the map to the specified project
in Central for use in generating final output. See https://documentation.madcapsoftware.com/central/Content/Central/Introduction/Home-Central.htm. You will need the following skills in Central as you
publish your content to to the Central hosted site:
Manage a project
Locate the proper target you obtain from Central during the
output generation
Manage the content within the project
Interact with the build by activities, such as monitoring
analytics data
