Import multiple resolution images

You can use import images with multiple formats with the related wizard to bulk import images and their different resolutions into the repository.

Note: You must prepare all images before import.
  • Each image resolution must be saved in a different directory. MadCap Software recommends you create an import directory with a subdirectory for each type of resolution, such as the following example.
    C:\images_import\Medres
C:\images_import\PDF
C:\images_import\Web
C:\images_import\Hires

  • All the different resolutions of an image must share the same filename. For example, you might have a file called bike.jpg that you'd use for web output, and another called bike.png that you would use for glossy brochures.

To import multiple resolution images:

  1. Select File > Import.
    The Import dialog appears.
  2. Open the IXIA CCMS folder and select Import Images With Multiple Formats.
  3. Open the IXIA CCMS folder and select Import Images With Multiple Formats (DRM).
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the resulting dialog, select the image Format to import and click Browse.

  6. Browse to the directory that contains the images for this format and click OK.
    The selected directory appears in the Folder Path list.
  7. Repeat the steps as required for all the related formats.
  8. To import as a read-only object, select the Import As External checkbox.
  9. Optional: Click Next.
    The Specify Default Values dialog opens.

    The values you specify are used for all the resolutions of all the images. You can change the values for individual images later.

  10. In the resulting dialog, enter a description for the file in the Description box.

  11. In the Default language list, choose the language you want set for the file.
  12. In the Type list, select the type of image for import.
  13. In the Default format list, select the output format for the image.
    This may determine the output format for an image, depending on your system setup.
  14. Select the Needs Translation checkbox to designate the image as needing translation or clear the checkbox if the image should not be included in the image localization kit.
    Certain types of graphics may automatically enable this checkbox, but you can change the values for individual images later.
  15. Click Next.
    The Select Versions dialog appears.
  16. Choose one of the following actions:
    • To import the images in a product, click the Products tab and then select the product in which to import the image.
    • To import the images in a library, click the Libraries tab and then select the library in which to import the image.
    You can import images in a single product or library only, but you can import them in more than one versions inside the product or the library.
    The releases and versions available for the selected product or library are displayed in the Selected Products/Libraries, Releases, and Versions pane.
  17. In the Selected Products/Libraries, Releases, and Versions pane, select the versions to which you need to add to the imported images.
    Use the filter at the bottom of the pane to filter the versions in the list by release name.
    The Primary Version dropdown list is populated with the list of selected versions.
  18. In the Primary Version list, select the primary version for the images.

    The primary version is the version for which the images were initially created.

  19. Click Finish.
