User experience
- Use the Information view to show which versions content is reused in. The Information view will show all versions a document resides in.
- The Primary version column in the Search Results view and DITA
Map view shows the Primary version. In most cases, you can quickly see which
version an object was originally created in and cloned from by finding its
Primary version. Note: Users can change the Primary version of an object. So in some cases, you may need to check the Revision History to determine which version is the oldest.
- When you perform a Fork or Create New Instance action, a new copy of the object is created with the same ID as the original but with a unique filename. Multiple objects of the same type can have the same ID, but they always have a unique filename.
- DRM differs from GIT, where you create branches that share content and changes are automatically branched, silent to the user. In DRM, users can work across multiple branches at once. GIT also has a commit action, which creates a log with a history to review each commit, and users can rollback to a specific version. In DRM, there's no rollback action and the lock action reserves a document for editing by a specific user. The CCMS also has document status changes which impact other content.
