Clone an object

You can clone an object anywhere you see it in IXIASOFT CCMS Web.

The object must be checked in for you to clone it.

If you want to edit the objects that you clone, you must also have the access rights required to edit those types of objects.

Cloning creates a copy of the object in the same Branches as the original object. If you want a copy of the object in a different Branch, you must push it.

Note: Clones cannot be created in Delivery Branches.

To clone an object:

  1. For the object that you want to clone, click More Options icon.
Tip: If you clone an object that is in a map, you have additional options. For example, you can replace a topic in a map with its clone. For more information, see Clone an object in a map.
  2. Select Clone.
    The Clone dialog appears.

It shows the Branches the clone will be created in.

  3. (Optional): In the Clone title field, change the title.
  4. (Optional): To open the clone as soon as it is created, select the Open in editor check box.
Note: If you do not have the access rights to edit this type of object, you can still clone it. However, the object will open in a read-only mode.
  5. Click Clone.
    The object is cloned.
  6. If you selected Open in editor, follow the steps for one of the scenarios to edit the clone:

The scenarios depend on the Branches the clone was created in.

Important: If you click Cancel during this step, the clone will not be checked out. However, the object has already been cloned, and canceling does not delete the clone.
