Edit a topic in only one Branch

If the topic is available in only one Branch, then you automatically edit the topic in all available Branches when you try to edit it.

The view or page that you edit the topic from changes the steps required. If you edit the topic from the My Assignments page, Map Editor, or Topic Preview, you need to pick a Context Map only if the topic does not already have one.

A topic with a greyed out Edit icon (Edit icon) is both only in one Branch and has the Done status. You must move it to Work status before editing it.

To edit a topic:

  1. For the topic, click Edit icon.

    If you edit the topic from the My Assignments page or Map Editor, the topic is checked out and Topic Editor opens.

    If you edit the topic from Search, you must select a Context Map for the topic. Another Search appears showing all the top-level maps that the topic is in.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • To pick a Context Map, click the radio button for it.
    • To edit the topic without a Context Map, click No context map.
  3. Click Edit.

The topic is checked out and opens in Topic Editor.
