You must check out a topic or map before you can edit it.
Checking out a topic or map opens the Map Editor or Topic Editor, where you can edit
the map or topic.
When you check out a topic or map, that also makes it unavailable to other users from
working on it until you check it in. This maintains version control by only allowing
one user to make changes at a time.
To check out an object:
-
Find the object you want to edit.
You can use the search or sorting actions to help.
-
For the object you want, check it out by doing one of the following:
- On the My Assignments page,
click .
- On the Map Preview page or
Topic Preview page click
Edit.
The object opens in the editor for that object type. Any other user who sees
the object will see that it is unavailable.
Note: If you navigate away from the Map Editor or Topic
Editor, the map or topic remains check out by you. It does
not automatically check in.
