Highlight text in a topic

You can highlight selected text in Oxygen Web Author.

1. With a topic open in Edit mode, select the text you want to highlight.

   For the best results, select text only within a single element. If you need to select text that spans elements, highlight the text separately in each element. Applying the highlighting across elements could result in unpredictable outputs or other issues.

   The text is highlighted in the currently active highlight color. The highlighting is recorded as a processing instruction: <?oxy_custom_start type="oxy_content_highlight" color="255,255,0"?>confidential<?oxy_custom_end ?>. You can search for this processing instruction provided you have set up the necessary indexes and search options to do so.

   After highlighting text, the cursor looks like a marker, indicating you can continue to select text and apply the same highlighting.

Additional highlighting actions you can perform:

3. To select a different highlight color, click the down arrow on the icon and select the color.
4. To remove existing highlighting, select the text, then click the icon and select No color (erase).
5. To stop highlighting and return the cursor to its normal state, either click again or click the down arrow on the icon and select Stop highlighting.
