Creating topics
Create a topic for use in a map, once you determine the nature of content you intend to develop and its relationship to other map objects.
You can choose from several different options during topic creation:
Here are several things to consider as you create your topic:
Item |
Examples |
Related content |
---|---|---|
DITA topic or information type |
Concept, task, or reference |

Location and relationships within the map hierarchy |
Parents, children, and siblings |
|
Elements within the topic |
Cross-references, related links, images, videos, or tables |
|
Reusable content |
Keyrefs, conrefs |
With the ability to organize objects within a map and to create chunks of content that you can reuse, the tools you use every day during content development provide you with more power and flexibility.
