Create a Collaborative Review redline from a language manifest

You can create a Collaborative Review (CR) redline to provide your in-country reviewers a markup between a current and a previous revision of the same map in the same language for the same instance.

Use a language manifest with at least one version that is at Translation:done.

Note: Your deployment of IXIA CCMS might require that maps are in a specific status to create a Collaborative Review.

To create a Collaborative Review redline from a language manifest:

  1. Locate a map for localization and move it so that it has an Authoring:done status.
  2. Localize the map, generate a translation kit.
  3. Download and extract the kit, following the steps for submission to your language service provider (LSP) for translation.
  4. Obtain the translations back from your LSP and import the resulting zip.
  5. Open the language manifest and select a language from the Page dropdown menu.
  6. To generate a CR from the language manifest for that language, click More Options icon from the language manifest banner, and then select New Collaborative Review.

  7. In the resulting New Collaborative Review dialog, enter a title for the CR according to proper naming conventions, and then click Next.
  8. To create a CR with a redline comparison, take the following actions in the Options step:
    1. In the Context map option, leave the default or click Modify to select a context map from the resulting list, and then click OK. You can also search for multiple status types or find objects locked by a specific group to filter your search.
    2. In the Redline with option, click Add an object, select a snapshot, Approval, or another CR to compare with the CR you are creating, and then click OK. You can also search for multiple document types or status types to filter your search.
    3. For the Select a Ditaval option, click Add Ditaval, select a ditaval for the related object, and then click OK.
    4. Click Next.
  9. Optional: To generate a PDF that reviewers can download, select Yes.
Note: If you generate a PDF of the CR, the PDF will also show the redline comparison.
  10. Click Create.
  11. Move the language manifest for that language so that it has a Translation:done status.
Tip: This step completes the first phase of the CR comparison. The comparison requires a new version from another submission, which comes with the next iteration of localization, so there can be a time gap between the first and second phase. Consider marking this CR version as a favorite until then.
  12. After you move the source map to have an Authoring:work status and make your edits to the relevant topics, then obtain your review and approval, move the updated version back to have an Authoring:done status.
  13. Localize the map again and generate a translation kit.
Note: Technically, you could create a CR at this juncture, but it will contain a mixture of the updates in the source language, which is usually English, and the content already translated and imported back into the Docbase.
  14. Make the necessary updates to the source content, and after approval of the content, repeat the entire process up to the CR creation of the second version.
  15. Create a CR from the new language manifest by repeating the same steps you did before, using the redline option so that you can compare it to the prior version.
CCMS Web begins generating a CR.
Note: Since CCMS Web generates a CR snapshot as an output, a CR can fail to generate if there are errors. Review the related output log error messages to troubleshoot.
Click on the resulting My Outputs link to access the My Outputs page to see the progress and take one of the following actions:
  • Double-click on the CR title to open its online version.

  • If you generated a PDF of a CR, you can download it from the My Outputs page. Reviewers can download the PDF from the table of contents in a Collaborative Review.
