Create a resource

You can add a new resource to the repository.

About this task

You can import a single file or a folder as a resource in the repository. When you import a folder, all of its files and subfolders import and the folder structure remains in the resource object.

To create a resource:

Procedure

  1. Take one of the following actions:
    • On the Document Creation toolbar, click Create Resource icon.
    • From the menu bar, select IXIA CCMS > Create Resource.
  2. In the resulting dialog, enter a Title.
    Note: Titles do not need to be unique.
  3. Enter all the keywords that may be useful when you search for the object in the Description field for storage in the object's metadata.
  4. Select a Resource Type.
    The selections that you see depend on your system configuration. Typical choices include pdf-legal, related Word documents, or multimedia.
  5. Select a Language.
  6. To import a folder:
    1. Click Import Folder.
    2. In the resulting dialog, browse to the folder for import, select it, and click OK.
      The Show/Edit Resource dialog reappears. The Content area displays the imported folder and all the files it contains.
  7. To import a single file:
    1. Click Import.
    2. In the resulting dialog, browse to the required file, select it, and click Open.
      The Show/Edit Resource dialog reappears. The Content area displays the new resource.
  8. Optional: Enter a Description next to the new items.
  9. Repeat the import process as necessary.
  10. Optional: Select the resource for use as a default and click Set as Default to the file within a resource that for use during a build, for example.
  11. If required, click User Properties.
    The User Properties dialog opens.
  12. Enter or select values as required.
    The User Properties dialog is another way to enter indexable information about a resource. The fields or selection lists that appear here are configurable and vary, based on your configuration.
  13. Optional: To save the settings you have selected for Resource Type and Language, click Save Settings.
    Your selections are saved and used as the default values in the dialog.
  14. Click OK.

Results

The resource and all its related items are added to the repository.
Note: Any resource that you create is automatically assigned to you.
Tip: You can configure a default import directory where the Open dialog will go automatically.
