Advanced Search example: Use the without operator

Use the without operator if you need to exclude results from the search. For example, you could search for all the topics and images that are not in the Authoring:done status.

About this task

This search requires two lines in the Advanced Search:
  1. Retrieve all statuses
  2. Exclude the Authoring:done status

Procedure

  1. In the Cycles panel of the Search view, select Authoring.
  2. In the Document Types panel, select Topics and Images.
  3. If necessary, expand the Advanced Search panel.
    The default Operator is and, which indicates the inclusion of the criteria from the Advanced Search panel with the criteria of the other panels.
  4. Click in the Type column.
  5. Click dropdown indicator and select index from the dropdown list.

  6. Click in the Name column.
  7. Click the indicator and select Status from the dropdown list.
  8. Leave the Value column empty.
    This will retrieve all the available statuses from the Content Store.
  9. Click the Add a new line button. Add advanced search line button
  10. Select the without operator.
  11. Click in the Type column.
  12. Click the indicator and select index from the dropdown list.
  13. Click in the Name column.
  14. Click the indicator and select Status from the dropdown list.
  15. Click in the Value column.
  16. Click the indicator and select Authoring:done from the dropdown list.
