IXIA CCMS architecture

The IXIA CCMS solution is comprised of client and server components.

Client components

On the client-side, the CCMS solution includes the following components:
  • IXIA CCMS Web is a hosted web client that allows content contributors and reviewers to create, edit, and review content from the incorporated Oxygen XML Web Authorinterface. You access it from an Internet browser without having to install the IXIA CCMS Desktop.
  • IXIA CCMS Desktop is an Eclipse-based client that provides a graphical user interface (GUI) with the full suite of IXIA CCMS functions, including authoring, reviewing, localizing, and publishing.

Server components

On the server side, the CCMS solution includes the following components:
  • IXIA TEXTML Server: Acts as a native XML database to combine a reliable document repository with powerful search functions for the IXIA CCMS content and manages the docbase.
  • Docbase: Acts as a central storage location for workgroup configurations and all the IXIA CCMS DITA content, such as maps or topics, and non-DITA content, such as images, PDF files, or videos.
  • IXIA CCMS Output Generator: Acts a centralized server during the transformation of DITA content to a specified output type, such as PDF, HTML, XML, or CHM.
  • IXIA CCMS Scheduler: Schedules and executes tasks such as output generation, notifications, or activity report creation, and is similar to a Windows task scheduler or a Linux cron daemon.
  • IXIA CCMS Web Server: Contains the CCMS Application Server and IXIA CCMS Web applications, which allow users to edit and review content with the CCMS Web client.
  • Oxygen Server OEM version plus MadCap Software plugin: Delivers information back and forth between IXIA CCMS Web and the IXIA CCMS Web Server.
  • Apache or Microsoft IIS reverse proxy: Provides SSL encryption between the web browsers of end users and the CCMS Web Server.
  • Authentication Server and SMTP Server: Accesses external services provided by the customer.
