Customization of Oxygen frameworks and extensions
IXIA CCMS Web uses Oxygen frameworks to deliver much of the authoring functionality within the system. For the Oxygen frameworks to work correctly within IXIA CCMS Web, a framework extension containing your company's DTDs must be created. This is handled automatically by the Web Installer.
Within CCMS Web 7.3, there are three Oxygen frameworks:
- dita-ixia: used exclusively for handling topic-related functions within CCMS Web
- dita-ixia-advanced: used by CCMS Web Advanced for handling topic-related functions
- ditamap-ixia: used by CCMS Web Advanced for handling map-related functions
The Web Installer automatically renames and updates these files with your company's existing DTDs to fully enable CCMS Web Lite and Advanced.
MadCap Software provides you with a template file that you can download, which contains the three frameworks. You can modify the frameworks and install them on your system. These frameworks are used exclusively by CCMS Web, and have no impact on IXIA CCMS Desktop, which uses a different framework setup.
You can customize Oxygen XML Web Author framework extensions to suit any specific authoring needs using custom CSS styles or advanced customizations. However, some customizations might not be compatible with every version of Oxygen XML Web Author framework.
MadCap Software recommends you use the version of Oxygen XML Web Author framework in your deployment as the basis for all customizations. Each framework controls a wide range of functionality within CCMS Web, allowing for customization of the following:
- DTDs
- Toolbars and menus
- Style and form controls
- Content completion checking
- Validation using Schematron
