Delete words from a custom dictionary

You can delete words from a custom dictionary in CCMS Desktop.

Important: Make configuration changes in a test environment and confirm they work before copying them to a production environment.

To delete words from a custom dictionary:

  1. Open the Dictionary Manager.
  2. In the Dictionaries area, select the language for the word to remove and click lock manager icon.
The Lock button checks out the custom dictionary file for your exclusive use. The Vocabulary area lists all the words in the standard dictionary for that language.
  3. Right-click anywhere in the Dictionaries area and select Remove A Word.
  4. In the resulting Remove A Word dialog, enter the word to remove and click OK.
One of the following messages displays:
    • Entered word '<your_word>' doesn't exist in custom dictionary'<dictionary>'.

You are trying to delete a word that is not in the custom dictionary. Click OK to continue and try another word, since you cannot delete words from the standard dictionary.

    • Word '<your_word>' was successfully removed from custom dictionary '<dictionary>'.

The word is deleted. Click OK to continue.

  5. Optional: You can remove more words from the dictionary by repeating the procedure.
  6. To commit your changes, click check in manager icon.
  7. Inform users of the changes and ask them to close and reopen their CCMS Desktop to apply the changes.
The selected terms you deleted from the custom dictionary are no longer available.
