Reverse proxy considerations
Depending on your environment and needs, you may need to set up a reverse proxy for IXIA CCMS Web Server.
Factors determining whether a reverse proxy is needed
You must have a reverse proxy in the following situations:
- SSL encryption is required on the connection between the end users' browsers and the CCMS Web Server.
- You want to monitor software usage
- You want to use URL filtering that restricts user access to specific URLs
- You want to avoid exposing the CCMS Web Server directly to the Internet or intranet
Responsibilities for the reverse proxy
MadCap Software does not include the reverse proxy in its installer.
You can choose which reverse proxy application to use: Apache or Microsoft IIS. To install your SSL certificates, you follow the documentation of your reverse proxy.
MadCap Software supplies a sample reverse proxy configuration to connect the reverse proxy to the CCMS Web Server. From there, the setup and maintenance of the reverse proxy (including SSL) is your responsibility.
