Fork a resource

Resources can be in more than one Branch. If you need to edit a resource that is in more than one Branch, you must fork the resource.

You only need to pick a branch and fork it in the following scenarios:

  • You are editing a branch outside of Map Editor
  • The branch is not assigned to you

To fork and edit a resource:

  1. Click Fork or Fork icon.

    One of the following appears:

    • If you can edit the resource in only one Branch, a message appears saying which Branch the resource will automatically fork in.

Click Fork & Edit to fork and check out the topic.

    • If you could edit the resource in one of several Branches, the Fork & Edit dialog appears so you can pick a Branch.

      Follow the steps below.

  2. Select the branch you want to edit in.
The branches are sorted by branch type.
  3. Click Fork & Edit.

A new instance of the resource is created in the Branch you selected. Any changes you make will appear in that resource for only that Branch.
