Initial status of objects in CCMS Web

In IXIA CCMS Web, the initial status for a new object depends on the role of the user who creates the object. For example, if a Writer and a Contributor both create the same type of object, each new object is created with a different status appropriate for the role.

How CCMS Web sets an object's status

CCMS Web determines the initial status of new objects dynamically because different roles all use CCMS Web, and different roles only work on objects with a related status.

The software's default configuration allows users to immediately start work on objects they create. For example, in the default configuration, Contributors can only work on topics in the Contribute status, but can't edit any newly created topics with a Work status. For that reason, CCMS Web creates a new topic with a Contribute status so that the user with a Contributor role can begin to work on it immediately. It the same way, CCMS Web also creates a new topic with a Work status so that the user with a Writer role can begin to work on it immediately.
