About images
Images go through cycles and status changes just like other types of files, and they are added to topics as references.
You can manage images in the same ways that you manage your topics and maps.
When it comes to Localization, you may even find that images need less management than text-based files. Often a graphic will work equally well whatever language the surrounding text may be. Instead of having to track these images through the initial portion of the Localization cycle, you can flag them as not needing translation; then, when the map is put into the Localization cycle, they'll automatically be promoted by the system into Localization:review (or its equivalent in your workflow).
Images are imported into the repository and saved with the .image extension. While you are importing your image, you can add keywords and other descriptive text that will help you find the image when you need to search for it. You can go back and edit this data later on using the Edit image metadata procedure.
Images can be referenced by more than one topic and referenced by topics in more than one map. Image references are validated when the topic is released. An image cannot be deleted if it is referenced by a topic.
