This procedure shows you how to create various types of maps.
IXIA CCMS offers you templates for the standard
ditamaps and MadCap Software's
referable_content_library ditamap. In addition, your system may contain custom
templates designed for use in your particular working environment. You will see them
in the Map template pane whenever you create
a map.
If your working environment has a large number of templates, these
may be organized into folders, which will appear in the Map Template pane.
When you create a map, you have the option of assigning your own ID
to the map. You can then use this ID – or any portion of the ID – to search for the
map in the repository. For example, if you create the ID "Interim_version_3" you can
search for the map using "Interim" or "version" or "3". You can obtain this
user-defined ID using the Copy ID procedure.
Note: Map IDs must follow
the w3.org naming conventions.
Note: Any document that you
create is automatically assigned to you.
-
Do one of the following:
- Press CTRL+ALT+M.
- On the Document Creation toolbar, click the Create Map button ().
- From the menu bar, select .
The Create Map
dialog appears. The ID field displays the
system-assigned ID.
-
If you want—and if the field is available—you can assign the
map an ID of your own.
If the field is greyed out, this means that your system
administrator has disabled this feature.
-
In the Map title box, type a title.
Titles do not have to be unique.
-
In the Language list, click a
language.
-
In the Map template box, select a map
template:
- bookmap.ditamap: creates a Bookmap ditamap, which
contains elements needed to produce a book output.
- map.ditamap: creates a Map ditamap, which
contains elements for a general purpose map.
- referable_component_library.ditamap: creates Map
ditamap that includes the
<data
name="referable_component_library"/>
element, which is used to
contain a collection of referable-content topics.
- subjectScheme.ditamap: create a subjectScheme
ditamap, which is used to define a list of controlled values for the
conditional processing attributes.
Templates provide you with the basic structure for the type of
map you are creating and define the rules for building the map.
-
In the Labels pane,
click Select to add labels.
The labels that you select are listed in the Labels pane.
-
If the map template contains variables, the defined variable
names appear in the Template Variables
