Importing content as read-only
You can import external documents into the Content Store and mark them as read-only.
Importing read-only content is a way to add content that is not developed by
your company and should not be modified, such as:
- Third-party documentation
- DITA content automatically generated from engineering databases
Once imported, you can use read-only content in your documentation. For example, you could add a parts catalog provided by a third-party as an appendix to one of your documents.
You can also reference content that was added as read-only. You can use any existing key available in the read-only content.
When you import content as read-only, it is added to the Content Store, but it follows a different workflow than your documentation. The documents are put in the Authoring:readonly status. You cannot change the status of the documents and you cannot update the content.
