Edit the new DRM access rights

The Web Installer automatically installs the new access rights required for IXIASOFT CCMS 6.5. You can configure them if you don't want the default configuration.

Note: These new access rights are only for the IXIASOFT Dynamic Release Management module.
New Access Right Use Default Setting
EditInMultipleBranches Users with this access right can edit objects in multiple branches.

Without this access right, the Single-Branch Authoring mode is enabled for the user. Whenever this users tries to edit or change the status of an object, it forks in the current Branch where they are working on it.

 The Web Installer gives the EditInMultipleBranches access right to the group Everyone. The access right applies to topics, images, ditavals, and resources in the Authoring cycle.
Push to Users with this access right can use the Push action to send updated content from an instance of an object in one Branch to other instances in other branches.

The Web Installer gives the Writers role and System Administrators group access to the Push action for maps, topics, images, and ditavals in the Authoring cycle.
  1. In TEXTML Administration perspective, right-click the Content Store node and select CCMS Admin > Manage Access.
    The Access Manager window opens.
    Note: IXIASOFT recommends that you avoid directly editing the accessrights.xml file. The Access Manager window has built-in validation mechanisms to reduce errors.
  2. Click the Lock button (lock manager icon).
    The accessrights.xml file is checked out by you for editing.
  3. In the Actions list, select EditInMultipleBranches.
  4. Under Conditions, do one of the following:
    • To modify an existing condition, select the condition.
    • To create a new condition, right-click and select New Condition.
    Tip: Keep the number of conditions for any given action to a minimum, and make them as broad-based as possible. The more conditions you configure, the longer the configuration will take and the more adjustments you may have to make to your configuration in the future.

    For example, if a Writer and an Information Architect should have the same access for an action, use a single condition for both roles rather than creating a separate condition for each.

  5. Under Status/Type, select all document types, cycles, and states where you want users to edit across multiple branches.
    Tip: If you don't see the document type you want to configure, right-click and select New Type on > doctype, where "doctype" is the document type. To configure an action for all document types, select the asterisk (*).
  6. Under Roles and/or Groups, select all the users who will have access to the action.
    For example, in the screenshot below, all users (i.e Everyone) will be able edit topics, images, ditavals, and resources across multiple branches, but only in the Authoring cycle.

    To restrict this access to only writers and information architects, you would deselect the group Everyone and select the roles Writers and Information Architects.

    Note: The Users list is used for IXIASOFT testing purposes only.
  7. Repeat the steps above for the Push to access right.
  8. Save changes to the file.
  9. Click Check In Document (check in manager icon).
  10. Inform users of the changes.
    The changes will be applied automatically once users close and then reopen their CCMS Desktop. Users can also apply the changes without restarting their CCMS Desktop by clicking IXIASOFT CCMS > Synchronize Configuration. Additionally, refresh IXIASOFT CCMS Web so that users will see the change reflected there.
