Factors influencing deployment size and type
Many factors influence how to deploy the IXIASOFT CCMS solution.
Number and types of users
Users with different responsibilities have different needs for each component of CCMS.
The total number of users, their actions, and the number of concurrent sessions all affect performance.
For more information, see Number and types of users.
Content to be developed and stored
- The number of document objects to store (topics, images, maps)
-
How often the documentation is published.
-
The number of languages into which the document objects will be translated
Every time a document is localized in another language, all of its objects are duplicated and stored in the docbase. For example, consider a documentation set with three maps, where each map contains an average of 300 topics. If the maps are translated into 10 languages, then a total of 9000 topics are created in the docbase (10 languages * 3 maps * 300 topics).
Number of sites
The number of sites in a deployment greatly impacts how the CCMS server components will be deployed and how users will run the CCMS.
In the CCMS, a site is defined as a set of users who are in the same geographical location (office) and are connected to the rest of the company through a WAN.
The number of sites determines how IXIASOFT TEXTML Servers and IXIASOFT CCMS Desktop are deployed.
For examples, see Deployment scenarios for one or more sites.
Output type and complexity
- The number of documents that will be generated
- The frequency that output will be generated
- The number of formats that will be generated
- Whether the transformation scenarios will be simple or complex (require heavy processing)
- Whether there are time constraints on the generation process
