Creating new instances of maps in CCMS Web

In the IXIASOFT Dynamic Release Management (DRM) module of IXIASOFT CCMS Web, users with the required access rights can create a new instance of a map and add it to a new Branch or an existing Branch that the map is not currently in.

Users can create a new instance of a map in only one Branch at a time.The target Branch for the new instance can only be in the same Product or Library as the current Branch the map is in. Users cannot create a new instance of the map in a different Product or Library.

Access rights

Users need the follow access rights to create new instances and Branches:

  • CreateNewInstance: allows users to create new instances of maps.
  • CreateDRMObject: allows users to create new Branches.

Access rights and Content Level Security (CLS)

Users can create a new Branch only if they have the correct access rights and read-write access on the current Branch of the map. If the current map is in a Branch that is closed, users can still create a new instance. The new Branch is created with the same child libraries and CLS as the current Branch of the map.

Reusing objects

For new Branches, all the objects in the map are reused in the new Branch except for submaps. CCMS Web creates new instances of the submaps instead, but these also reuse the same objects as the original submaps.

For existing Branches, all the objects in the map are reused in the new Branch. CCMS Web creates new instances of the submaps only if they do not already exist in the target Branch.
