Move an object

When you have finished your work on an object, you can use the Move action to push it to the next stage in the workflow or assign it to another user. This allows users in the next stage to start work on it.

Note: When you move an object to the next stage, you move it for all users assigned to it. You should only move an object to the next stage when all assigned users for that stage have finished working on it.

A Move button can appear for an object depending on your privileges. If you can move the object, the Move action appears in all pages for that object, such as the My Assignments page or the Map View for a map.

You can also use the Move action to assign the object to another user without changing its current status.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • From the My Assignments page, click Move icon.
    • While in the editor for the object, click Move.
    • For a topic while in Map View, click Move icon .

    The Move dialog appears. All the drop-down menus and fields are optional.

  2. (Optional): If you want to assign the object to the next stage of the workflow, from the Status drop-down list select the next stage you want.
    You can, for example, send a topic to a Subject Matter Expert for review, or mark it as complete. Alternatively, you can skip this drop-down if you only want to assign the topic to another user.
  3. (Optional): If you want to assign the object to another person, from the Assign to drop-down list select the user.
    Note: If you cannot change who is assigned to a topic or other object because multiple users are assigned, you can use the Assign to feature in IXIASOFT CCMS Desktop.
  4. (Optional): If you want to set a deadline for the object, click the Due Date field and select the date.
  5. (Optional): If you want to add comments, click the Comment field and enter them.
  6. Click Move.
